1. The Economics of Youth Recidivism (YR Project): Recidivism is “re-entry into the correctional system.” This is a documentary project that will address the overall questions of whether there is any correlation between youth recidivism and the economic strength of the African-American community, and what economic impact youth recidivism has on the American taxpayer at large.

2. Making Opportunities via Education (Project M.O.v.E.): This is a financial education project targeting low-income and homeless individuals, as well as youth offenders who committed economic related crimes. This project is currently pending the award of an outstanding grant.

3. Home is an Investment (Project H.I.): We have partnered with a real estate consultant company to provide housing for low-income residents within the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia areas, as a means to further the economic stature of these residents.

I recently saw your job listing for the Fall Research Intern and decided to check out your site for more details. I’m a senior at UMBC majoring in Political Science. Just wanted to say that I appreciate your vision, especially your emphasis on finding (and fixing) the structural problems that afflict the minority community.

I’ll know in the coming weeks whether I can apply or not (I’m still getting my Fall schedule together), but whether I do or not I wanted to applaud your community efforts.

    Sincerely,

    Joe Edwards
